Welcome to Readmate.
Readmate is provided by Whitesspace Sdn. Bhd. (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By using Readmate, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these Terms, please stop using Readmate.
1. The Readmate Service
Readmate is a reading companion designed to help you organize, revisit, and share your reading content.
Readmate allows you to import and organize book information, highlights, notes, and reading records from third-party reading services such as WeRead, and use that content to create sharing cards, search your reading history, set reading reminders, and use other reading-related features.
Readmate is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or officially associated with Tencent, WeRead, or any other third-party reading platform.
Names, trademarks, content, and other intellectual property belonging to third-party services remain the property of their respective owners.
2. Third-Party Services
Some Readmate features may interact with third-party services, such as WeRead.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to access, use, and import the relevant data and that your use complies with the applicable terms of those third-party services.
Third-party services may change their APIs, access methods, functionality, or terms at any time. These changes may cause certain Readmate features to become temporarily or permanently unavailable.
We cannot guarantee the continued availability of features that depend on third-party services, and we are not responsible for changes, interruptions, restrictions, or discontinuation of those services.
3. Your Content
Books, highlights, notes, reading records, and other content you import into or create with Readmate remain yours or the property of their respective rights holders.
Using Readmate does not transfer ownership of this content to us.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary rights to use, store, export, or share content through Readmate. You are also responsible for content you create or share using Readmate and for complying with applicable copyright and other laws.
4. Local Data
Readmate is designed with a local-first approach.
Your books, highlights, notes, reading records, and other reading content are stored on your device. We do not upload or store this reading data on Whitesspace servers.
Certain third-party analytics services may process limited technical and usage data. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for details.
Because your reading data is stored locally, you are responsible for maintaining your device and your data. Deleting Readmate, clearing app data, device failure, or other circumstances may result in the loss of locally stored data.
5. Purchases and Refunds
Some Readmate features may require an in-app purchase through the Apple App Store.
Readmate currently offers a one-time Lifetime purchase. Unless otherwise clearly stated on the purchase screen, this purchase is not an automatically renewing subscription.
All purchases made through the Apple App Store are processed by Apple and are subject to Apple’s applicable payment, refund, and Apple Media Services terms.
Whitesspace Sdn. Bhd. cannot directly process, approve, or reject refunds for purchases made through the Apple App Store.
If you would like to request a refund, you can submit a request through Apple’s official Report a Problem service:

Refund eligibility and final refund decisions are determined by Apple in accordance with its policies and applicable law.
6. Acceptable Use
You may use Readmate for personal and lawful reading, organization, and sharing purposes.
You may not:
- use Readmate for unlawful activities;
- attempt to damage, attack, interfere with, or disrupt Readmate;
- use Readmate to gain unauthorized access to third-party accounts, services, or data;
- use Readmate to obtain, reproduce, or distribute copyrighted content at scale without the necessary rights; or
- use the service in any other way that may harm Readmate, third-party services, or other users.
7. Intellectual Property
The Readmate app, brand, logo, interface design, original visual elements, software, and other content created by Whitesspace are owned by Whitesspace Sdn. Bhd. or its applicable licensors.
Books, book content, covers, author information, artwork, trademarks, and other third-party content displayed through Readmate remain the property of their respective rights holders.
Except where permitted by law, these Terms do not grant you ownership of any such intellectual property.
8. Changes and Availability
We may update, modify, add, or remove Readmate features from time to time.
We may also suspend or discontinue certain features for technical, security, legal, third-party service, or other reasons.
While we aim to keep Readmate functioning reliably, we do not guarantee that the service will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or permanently compatible with every device or third-party service.
9. Disclaimer
Readmate is provided on an “as is” and ** “as available”** basis.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we make no additional warranties regarding Readmate’s continuous availability, accuracy, completeness, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose.
Third-party services on which Readmate relies may change over time. We are not responsible for the availability, content, policies, or actions of third-party services.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Whitesspace Sdn. Bhd. will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses arising from your use of or inability to use Readmate, including loss of data, loss of content, business losses, or losses resulting from interruptions to third-party services.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any consumer rights or other legal rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
If we make material changes, we will make the updated Terms available through an appropriate method. Your continued use of Readmate after an update constitutes acceptance of the then-current Terms, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
