Readmate Privacy Policy

Readmate is provided by Whitesspace Sdn. Bhd. (“we”, “us”, or “our”).
We value your privacy. One of Readmate’s core design principles is to keep your reading data on your own device whenever possible.
This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use Readmate.
1. Your Reading Data Stays on Your Device
The following content in Readmate is stored locally on your device:
- book information;
- highlights and excerpts;
- notes;
- reading records;
- other reading content you organize or create in Readmate; and
- content used to generate sharing cards.
This reading data is not uploaded to or stored on Whitesspace servers.
Readmate currently does not provide a user account system, and we do not operate Readmate cloud servers that store your reading data.
2. WeRead API Key
If you choose to connect WeRead, Readmate requires you to provide your own API key to access the relevant data.
Your API key:
- is stored locally in the iOS Keychain on your device;
- is used by Readmate on your device to access the relevant service; and
- is not sent to or stored on Whitesspace servers.
You can remove the relevant credentials or delete Readmate to remove this information from your device.
Readmate is an independent third-party product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or officially associated with Tencent or WeRead.
3. Analytics and Install Attribution
We use a limited number of third-party analytics and install attribution services to understand how Readmate is used, improve the product, and understand how users discover Readmate.
Google Analytics for Firebase
Readmate uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand overall app usage.
Google Analytics for Firebase may process limited device information, app information, usage events, and other analytics-related data.
We use this information to understand feature usage and overall usage trends. Your books, highlights, notes, reading records, and WeRead API key are not sent to Google Analytics for Firebase as analytics content.

AppsFlyer
Readmate uses AppsFlyer for basic install source and attribution analytics, helping us understand how users discover and install Readmate.
AppsFlyer may process installation information, device and technical information, technical identifiers, and other data relevant to install attribution.
Your books, highlights, notes, reading records, and WeRead API key are not sent to AppsFlyer as attribution content.

Google and AppsFlyer may process the information they receive in accordance with their respective privacy policies.
4. Reading Content We Do Not Collect
Whitesspace does not collect or store on its own servers:
- your book library;
- your highlights or excerpts;
- your reading notes;
- your reading history;
- your WeRead API key; or
- the content of sharing cards you generate.
Sharing cards are generated locally on your device.
If you choose to share generated content through another app or service, subsequent processing of that content is governed by the privacy practices of the third-party service you choose.
5. Notifications
If you enable reading reminders, Readmate may send you local notifications.
These notifications are scheduled locally on your device and do not require your reading content to be sent to Whitesspace servers.
You can disable Readmate’s notification permission at any time through your device settings.
6. Sale of Personal Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We also do not sell, rent, or trade your reading content.
Third-party analytics and attribution services used by Readmate may process limited information in accordance with their respective privacy policies.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
Because your reading content is stored locally on your device, we generally do not hold reading data on Whitesspace servers that can be deleted by us.
You can delete content within Readmate or delete the app to remove Readmate’s locally stored data from your device.
Information processed by Google Analytics for Firebase and AppsFlyer may be retained in accordance with their respective data retention policies.
If you have a request to access, correct, or delete data that is under our control, you may contact us using the information provided below.
8. Children’s Privacy
Readmate is intended for users aged 13 and older .
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child where deletion is required by applicable law, we will take appropriate steps to address it.
9. International Data Processing
Readmate is available in multiple countries and regions.
Third-party services such as Google Analytics for Firebase and AppsFlyer may process information outside the country or region where you live.
These third-party services process the information they receive in accordance with their applicable data protection obligations and their respective privacy policies.
10. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide you with rights regarding your personal data, including rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing.
Because Readmate’s reading data is stored locally on your device, you can generally manage this data directly through Readmate or by deleting the app.
For data controlled by Whitesspace where applicable law provides you with additional rights, you may contact us to submit a request.

These third-party services have their own privacy practices and policies. Information independently processed by these third parties is subject to their respective policies.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Readmate’s features or applicable legal requirements change.
If we make material changes, we will make the updated policy available through an appropriate method and update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page.
